The surfing beach – in front of the cottages

The quiet, deserted beache and the exceptional flora and fauna of around the beach make it a a unique and perfect beach for tourists. This beach with a bay is ideal for safe bathing , snorkling, surfing and many water sports suitable for beginners also.

This is considered as one of the two beaches in Tangalle for safe bathing for any season of the year.
You can observe busy fishing boats and fishermen on their activities

Mulkirigala – 45 minutes

Dangling off a rocky crag 16km northwest of Tangalla and nestled away among a green forest of coconut trees are the peaceful rock temples of Mulkirigala. Clamber in a sweat up the many steps and you’ll encounter a series of seven cleft-like caves on five different terraced levels. You’ll discover a number of large reclining Buddha statues interspersed with smaller sitting and standing figures.

Wewurukannala – 45 minutes

A famous temple two kilometers from Dikwella town on the Matara Beliatta Road in the Dikwella Divisional Secretarial area in Matara District in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka.This temple is built on a beautiful hill with a large building complex in an extent of Eight acres land, This sacred place which is in a beautiful environment is a historical temple that contributes social, Religious and educational service. The old image house that belongs to Kandyan period “Sujanakaththa Patimala” a unique large temple, 100 cubits tall Buddha Statue, large clock built by a Sinhalese The basement temple that depicts Hell, Two storied library which is an art gallery, a large “Dahamma sala” which is a wooden building and many other large buildings. This is a world famous art gallery that has stored the skills of the Sri Lanka.

Weherahena – 45 minutes

Weherahena Temple near Matara is a small but interesting temple that has many wall murals/cartoons depicting interpretations of events in the life of Buddha. The temple is multi-story with awesome views from the top and amazing devotional ceremonies in the basement. It is world’s only temple with the undercroft shrine (Uman Viharaya) where a large Buddha statue is situated.

Puwakdandwa – 6.5 km

This village is home to traditional clay pot manufacturing industry which is done as a domestic career for most of the people in this village. In addition, jewellery manufacturing is also witnessed in some houses.

Hunmanaya ( The Blow Hole ) – 8 km

There is a rock with a long but narrow fracture in the middle; At once rough sea waves gush through the crack and pass out through the hole at the bottom of the rock and blow out high in to the sky displaying a marvel water fountain.Surrounding area is always filled with whoosh caused by seawater rushing through the natural hole and it can be heard somewhat far away from the site.

Rekawa Turtle beach – 20 minutes

The beach at Rekawa village, 10km east of Tangalla Bay Beach, is home to one of the most important sea turtle nesting sites in Sri Lanka, visited by five different species which lay their eggs in the sand here every night throughout the year.
